The Yorkshire East division of the national housebuilder, Barratt and David Wilson Homes, were looking for fresh ideas to help attract potential buyers to longstanding developments, that needed creative solutions to make their offer stand out in the market again.
The challenge was to draw attention to their offer in a development site that also featured rival homebuilders, increase the number of visitors to their show homes and, ultimately, boost house sales.
The David Wilson Home site is named Hawk View in honour of the Hawk training aircraft. The development is located at Brough South on the former airfield close to the manufacturing facility that built the Hawk for decades.
After identifying that the 50th anniversary of the first flight of the Hawk was fast approaching, we reached out to BAE Systems, the creator of the Hawk, to partner on a major event celebrating the aircraft and its role in the local community.
To celebrate the milestone, we worked with BAE Systems to create a pop-up exhibition recording the life of the aircraft and sought the memories of those who had worked on the iconic machine.
The exhibition was launched with a major press call that invited down leading figures from BAE Systems to speak to the media, along with the people that had worked on Hawk over the years.
The result was major national and regional print, radio and TV coverage that not only commemorated the Hawk anniversary but also highlighted the exhibition within the David Wilson show home.
We also supported the media launch with an organic social media campaign targeting groups in “hot zones” for potential buyers, driving them to visit the exhibit and generating further interest in the development.
This activity helped to ensure there was a significant increase in visitors to the development and a number of new sales were secured.
